I am a friend of April Watson's and have been praying for your sweet Lily! So excited she is taking more from the bottle! I just had my first child in April and now know from experience how important the bond of breastfeeding can be. I am praying for her to be able to go home soon and for breastfeeding to become possible very soon too. Thank you for your updates as I check back regularly. My family and I are also praying for your meeting about her MRI results and that God would heal any injury to her brain!
Hooray! Thanks be to God! I am so glad to hear this! Like water to the soul! Keep it goin' baby Lily! We're praying for you! Lots of love to you guys! -Natasha
Way to go, Lily! Look how far she's come in a week -- from being on a ventilator to drinking 40 mls from a bottle. That's incredible.
I don't want to give false hope, but in nursing school they teach us that children's brains, and even more so infant's brains, are more "plastic" (have plasticity) than adult brains. That means given that they're still growing and forming, they have more capacity to form new neural connections, generate new neurons and even bypass damaged areas to form new functional connections. I have lots of hope for her recovery. She's certainly come a long way already, in a short amount of time.
I don't know you guys, but found your blog from another blog where they were praying for you...and I figured I could come add a few prayers too. :-)
